In the materials for serial IN/parallel OUT ICs there is an indication that direct LED drive is possible, but how do you connect LEDs?
- It is common to connect the anode of the LED to an external power supply and in series with an open-drain output via a current adjustment resistor. For CMOS output, it is also possible to connect the LED cathode and the anode side to the CMOS output via a resistor.
